Pictures
Here is a collection of pictures as I move through the various stages of the project.
The cabinet after priming and painting. I highly recommend putting up some plastic drop cloths if you are spraying the paint like I did. Unless of course you want little droplets of paint over everything else in your shop/garage.

27" Philips TV before painting. Power button was hacked with wire leads to connect to the same momentary switch that will power on the PC.
TV after 3 coats of black gloss Rustoleum.
This is the motherboard I am using. Left over from an old MythTV setup. Video card has VGA, DV, Svideo, Component and RCA out.
This is a VS2421 sound system from Altec Lansing. It has good sound, speakers mount easily and it comes with a nice control pad with headphone jack.
This AT style case is about 15 years old. It has been collecting dust in my basement for a while now. I am glad I did not through it out since it will keep my hard drive and CDROM secure in the cabinet. The motherboard panel will be modded to accept my ATX motherboard, and the power supply will feed some LEDs and whatever else needs extra power.
Here are a couple of pictures of my CP (control panel) layout test. It is a good idea to lay this out on a piece of cardboard so you can play with the design before cutting out the real thing. I started with a template, but I am making adjustments to suit my needs.

Here is what my CP overlay graphic looks like. It is a copy of one that Knievel Kustoms did a while back. You can find the instructions for how to make the halos in GIMP here.
