ARGH! Me Workstation Is Sunk, Matey.

OK. This sucks. After the two day power outage it appears that my workstation is fried. Or at least the motherboard is. So, I am off to NewEgg to get some parts to build a new one :) This time I think I will splurg a little and build a kick ass system. Here is what it appears that I can afford.

I will use the same drives and case from my existing workstation. Feel free to let me know what you think. This will again delay things. There is also some more bad news about Brian which I will share in the next episode.

Edit: I ordered the above, but the motherboard was bad. Newegg was great though. They are returning the bad one and gave me free 2 day shipping on a new one that I ordered to replace it. Newegg is great!

Edit: I wish I would have seen this before I ordered. http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/496453 This is almost exactly like the MB I ordered plus it runs LinuxBIOS!!

Sorry about the crash....

Food for thought, get a power backup with a USB connection so you can control those power surges/outages. Make sure it has a high rated VA. You might want to check out tiger direct also they have some nice FX-60 barebones for about $400.

Brian, Yeah I looked into

Brian,

Yeah I looked into tigerdirect, but they didn't seem to have too many SLI barebones. The ones they did have I didn't like. I am definitely getting a couple of UPSs. One for this new workstation and a bigger one for my server and other equipment in the basement.
