First show

Good job on your first episode. I really enjoyed it. I like the fact that you're using all F/OSS tools to produce the show. Have you guys looked into releasing ogg & theora files? Both are very good codecs and they'r Free. We'll definitely give you a shoutout tonight and add you to our linux related show listings page:

Keep it up!

Nice

Really liked the show. Took several hours to download the video, but I'm glad I did- it's nice to see the pretty screen caps, etc. :)

Here are some things I noticed that might be helpful:

  • problems:
    • black and green text overlays are hard to read
    • At the beginning of the QEMU segment, the video skipped back to the discussion of Asterisk and continued to play forward again from there
    • Sound distorts and chips when aaron gets excited about what he's saying :)
  • Suggestions:
    • You could probably get better file sizes if you squeeze the end credits a bit(like more frames where the text isn't moving and just the small outtakes viewport)

Nice show guys

It's good to see a show dedicated to open source. Nice production, hope to see many more.

show 4

Great show! I really enjoyed watching and listening to the show. I am looking forward to trying out QEMU.

show experience
I downloaded both the MP3 and XVID

download speed for the MP3 was great for me.
I thought the sound quality was good on the MP3.
Some show notes with command or screen shots would be a great add on for the MP3

the download of the XVID was slow around 20KB/s.
the XVID sound had a lot of pops and snaps for me in Xine.
would like to see more close up shots showing the workspace.

Thanks
Ridgid

Hi, from the Finland

Excellent show. Thank you very much!
Ogg Theora video would be great.

Your Tools

Hey guys,

Good show! Can you list your tools you are using to make this show, with their project URLs?

I heard the name of the video editor, but I can not find it.. Also wondering what you use for audio editing, and to compress your video into Xvid....

Heck for that matter, how did you get the video from the camera into your Linux box?

THANKS!

Re: Your Tools

I am glad your subject was not "You're Tools". I was a little worried there for a minute. :) Anyway, if you watch the end credits all the way to the end of the music I think you will find all the details on the various software packages we use for the show. There has been a lot of interest in this so we are thinking of doing a segment on "How we make the show" soon.
