Tethering the G1

I finally got around to setting up tethering via the G1. In fact, I am writing this post over the data connection on my G1 right now. The hack opens an ad-hoc network on the G1 so you can connect to it from the wifi on your laptop or other wifi enable device. No cables required. You can find the instructions over at the xda-developers website, but be forewarned ... you will first need to enable the root hack and have su working before you attempt this. When you enable root be prepared to flash your device several times and wipe the internal flash memory of your device (i.e. lose all your installed apps). I must say the end result is way worth it. Now I can get internet access in airports and hotels without paying those ridiculous access fees. Update: I have found out that this will drain your battery very quickly. In fact, with the G1 powering up through the USB port on my laptop the battery drained faster than it could charge. So use this wisely.

any T-Mobile violations?

Can t-mobile disrupt or terminate your service by doing this?
Thanks for reply.

RE: any T-Mobile violations?

I have no idea. I have an unlimited data plan so I don't see why they would care.
