"Android Needs Flash ... Badly"

Update: Looks like a Flash Player for Android will be coming soon. http://gizmodo.com/5091778/flash-10-on-the-android-g1-its-getting-there In my opinion and for what I need out of a phone, the G1 Android phone from T-Mobile is almost perfect. I will definitely have to do a review for the podcast. However, there is one thing that would make it even better. For all those Gauntlet fans out there you will remember what happens as the Warrior character in the game gets low on health. "Warrior needs food ... badly." Well I say "Android needs flash ... badly." This is the one thing that the phone does not do (yet), and it really needs it. It would set the phone apart from the iPhone in a big way. Also, flash is just so ubiquitous these days whether we like it or not. And not just for watching videos and listening to music. Sites like Netvibes use Flash for their whole site to make it interactive and those sites simply will not work without it. It would be great if my kids could look at pbskids.org or webkinz.com in the car or something, but those are out, too. Perhaps Google can insert some development time into Gnash so we can get this done ASAP!

Yes and no...

I agree that flash would be good for some things, but the majority of the flash used on websites is for advertisements and frankly I'm glad to not see them on my G1... I'd also rather have as little bandwidth taken by downloading ads as possible; I've heard that there's a 2GB/mo cap. When (not if) flash comes to the G1, I really hope it can be manually enabled as needed / per site similar to how the NoScript Firefox add-on works.

Howdy,
You have some kind of obsession with Flash that I don't get. Flash is bad in terms of being annoying and bad in terms of security. One of the strengths of the Android is that is does not have Flash. I never install Flash, for license reasons and things I mentioned above. If I thought a cell phone was worth having, and Android would be my top choice at the moment.
Its been a while since the last show. I am looking forward to the next one.
